Meet the Founder

Dear Strandlette,

About Social Strands

Social Strands is a faith-rooted space for young girls where hair, faith, and platform meet. We believe every strand has a story, and every girl is perfectly imperfect and purposely made.

Who we are

We are a community for girls ages 9 to 16. Through in-person and online workshops, hands-on hair tutorials, and reflective moments, girls learn how to care for their hair, how to love who God made them to be, and how to share their own story.

Why we exist

We live in a world that is always telling girls who to be and how to look. Social Strands is here so girls leave knowing who they are and whose they are, from the inside out.

Our three strands

Hair

Learn to style, care for, and steward your hair with love.

Faith

Meet the
Founder

Jorden Grant

Hi, I'm Jorden. I'm a cosmetology student, a beauty business founder, and a content creator in Queens, New York. For 11 years I was an only child and the only girl, and I fell in love with hair, nails, makeup, and all things beauty. Doing hair became more than a skill for me. It became a way to connect, to listen, and to help girls feel seen and beautified.

My why

I started Social Strands because hair is something so many of us love from a young age. We grow up playing in it, practicing on dolls, and watching the women around us do it. I want to take that early love and turn it into creativity, self-sufficiency, and real skills girls can carry for life. And while their hands stay busy, I want their hearts to open up, because the world can be loud for young girls and it's easy to lose sight of who you really are. I want every girl to leave knowing who she is and whose she is, standing confident from the inside out.

The goal

The goal is to plant seeds early that will grow and flourish for years to come. Through hands-on hair skills, real confidence, and faith built on a solid foundation that no one can break, every girl leaves with something that's truly hers.

With love, Jorden

Dear Diary.

Journal entries and prompts for your quiet time.

Each month, Jorden shares a new diary entry and two to three journal prompts for you to take home. They connect to our hair, our identity, our faith, and the things we want to work on this month. Take a deep breath, grab your favorite pen, and let's reflect.

Dear Strandlette,

As the weather starts to cool down, I've been thinking a lot about seasons of change. Sometimes, it feels like everything is shifting around us—school, friendships, even the way we feel about ourselves. It can be a little overwhelming, can't it?

This month, I want to encourage you to find stillness. When the wind blows hard outside, a tree stays anchored by its roots. What are your roots? For me, it's my faith, the loving words of my family, and remembering that I am perfectly designed. Let's practice holding onto what is true, even when things are changing.

Love, Jorden

This Month's Prompts

  1. 1

    Hair

What is one thing I love about my hair, and how can I take care of it this month?

  2. 2

    Identity

What is something true about me that has nothing to do with how I look?

  3. 3

    Faith

What is one way I want to grow closer to God this month?

"Every strand has a story.
So do you."
